The art of Yasmina Abd Elrahman aka MinaJoe springs from deep intuition. Guided by feelings, encounters and meditations, her works are created spontaneously in the moment of inspiration. Each painting reflects the life around her and her inner experience.
MinaJoe combines asymmetry and strong color contrasts to open up new perspectives and challenge traditional aesthetic norms. A central theme is the woman as a symbol of self-determination and authenticity. She explores social notions of nudity and physicality and shows beauty as unadulterated self-expression.
Her work is also about following inner joy and using it as a guide. Her art follows the principle of movement: Joy and energy should flow, not be blocked.
Inspired by the expressionists, who used intense colors and shapes to convey strong feelings, she uses the power of color to create mood and emotion. Picasso’s cubism and the works of Hilma af Klint also had a strong influence on her. These artists have changed the way we look at the world in their own special way and have inspired MinaJoe to use art as a medium to make people’s inner truths visible.
